Calliope Publishing Nimi+z's Creaiive Ideas The Calliope is a yearly addi- tion of literary works con- tributed by Nimitz students, put together for the enjoyment of everyone. The staff, Sandra Borgardt, Tana Campbell, Caroline Joe, Marie Mejia, Deena Miller, Dodie Moschinger, April Pinchot, Loretta Ruscher, and Paula Taylor have worked extremely hard for the publication of the magazine. Miss Rhonda Swift, sponsor of Calliope, said, I don't think the students understand that the Calliope is contributed by N imitz students. Our main goal this year was to reach the stu- dent body and sell more of our magazine. The Calliope staff does not have any officers, but each per- son puts in a lot of time and ef- fort. All art work was done by Paul Neidinger. The main fundraiser, a movie, was held in December. Student Council WoIH s Gan g al The Student Council reached a goal this year by the purchase of a Victory Flag that will hang in front of the school every time Nimitz scores a victory. The Welcome Back Dance at the beginning of school, and the selling of candy were two fund raisers the Student Council sponsored to go toward the buying of the flag. Each year the Student Council sponsors the Blood Drive and the Student Talent Show. The blood drive results have gone great every year and the talent show has had a flair all its own. Thanks to Mrs. Wolfe, sponsor, Shelia Egland, President, and the officers, the student council ran smoothly all year. aj Shelia Egland accepts plaques from the Freedom Shrine donated by the Greens- point Exchange Club. bl As Anita Shields lies on the cot she wonders if she will ever get to see the sun rise again. cj The Student Council. cj Daniel Howell tries to regain his strength after having his blood Kdrainedj taken. 188 Organizations
