Under the direction of Miss Debbie Turner, a first year instructor, Mary Lynn Ferranti, Admiralg Connie Bab- ington, Vice Admiralg Bobbie Jo Vaughn, Linda Grimes, Kelly Morris, and Lea Quinn, Company Captains, the girls reached many goals they had hoped. Summer camp was held at South West Texas where the girls tied for lst place in the 5-A division. The Star- board Angels performed at football games, basketball games, and attended many other functions throughout the year. During '81 the Drill Team went to Friendswood competition and received lst place in jazz and high kick. Toward the end of the year the girls were a part of the Blue and Gold competition in Commerce, Texas. The Drill Team received the Presidents Award, Sweepstakes, and Best in 5-A class which qualified the Angels for State competition. The officers also received a 3rd place award in jazz competition. The Drill Team had three fundraisers consisting of Christmas card sales, working at Astroworld, and taking inventory at Foley's. This money was used for competi- tion and the Christmas and Hawaiian parties given dur- ing the year. The girls also had a banquet at the end of the year awarding Tracey Poole as Angel of the year.
