A , ...N afar if el Expressing artistic ideas on paper to create an original effect is the main purpose of the Art Club. The club spent most of '81 preparing for the com- petitions during the year. Harold Williams, Tam- my Wisenbaker and Brad Seale entered in the Western Livestock show and all received lst place awards. Tari Powell also entered the competition and received a 2nd place award. These people also entered in the National Scholastics Art Competi- tion and received certificates of merit. The major fund raiser of '81 was the Sadie Hawkins Races. The officers for 81 are, Todd Col- eman, Presidentg Tammy Wisenbaker, Vice- Presidentg Jinx Elmore, Secretary. aj Sponsor of the Art club, Mr. Pat Wilie, talks to one of his students, John Maser about the art club. by Todd Coleman tells Mr. Pat Wilie about his creative ideas for the upcoming competition. f -QQ -elf' . 5- A as 1 QU -rf-f 'ii The 1981 State Qualifying Choir of Nimitz High School consists of Treble, A Cappella, Madrigal, and Pop Choirs. Five students, becoming a part of the All-Region Choir, started the '81 season off great. Laura Davidson, Pam Titlow, Dreida Hundertmark, Angie Smoke, and Cassey Essery were the outstanding girls in this competition. Next, the choir prepared for the combined con- cert with the Houston Symphony North. All Aldine District choir students were a part of this production, singing Handel's Messiah. In February, the choir entered a solo and ensem- ble competition with 44 peopleg 33 of them receiv- ed medals. The girls choir won the only 1st division rating ever received by the Nimitz choir. A 2nd division was received by the A Cappella choir at the U.l.L. contest. Girls and A Cappella choir received the same results at the Galveston competition. At the Galveston contest 33 people entered the solo and ensemble contest and 22 of them received awards.
