The squadron was redesignated as VF-211 on March 9, 1959. Since that time, the Checkmates have flown many aircraft types 1ncludinggF. - t 9F Cougars, FJ Furys, F-3H Demons, F-11F Tigers, F-SJ Crusaders, and F 14 Tomca s. .
