Carrier AirWiniqNINE AVCMCAWISSI 1 ACD Lawrence Cummings Master Chieflhawrence Cununings was born at Fort Bliss, Texas and raised El Paso, Texas. He enlistedinthe US. 1968 and trained as a Submarine Sonar Technicianat the AntisSubmarine Center, San Diego, California and attended at the Submarine Base, New London, Connecticut . Master Chief Cummings served on board USS TECUMSEH CSSBN 6283 Blue Crew and USS VON CSSBN Gold qualifying for his Submarine Dolphins and completing six SSBN deterrent patrols. In May 197 4, as a Second Class Petty Officer, Curnrnings accepted an Honorable Discharge in order to attend college in El Paso, Texas. Master Chief Cummings returned to the Navy, cross rating to a Second Class Aviation Anti!Submarine Warfare Techr 1977 and was assigned as a TAR to VP-94, at NAS New Orleans. In April 1979, he augmented to the regular Navy as an T VP-1 on the P-3B patrol aircraft, completing two WestPac deployments to NAS Cubi Point, RP. In April 1982, he was assigned tothe Test Center, NAS Point Mugu, California as the Special Projects CPO in support of the developmental testing of the Trident, ' keeper, Tomahawk, and Harpoon missile systems and in photographic support ofthe Space Shuttle program. In September of1982, was initiated as a Chief Petty Officer. ' V I Master Chief Cummings then reported to VP-6 as AVXARM Division LCPO in 1985 and then VP-22 as the Operations E in 1988. During this period he completed four WestPac deployments to NAS Cubi Point, RP, NAF Diego Garcia, NAF Misawa, Jsipanj and Adak, Alaska. In 1990, he was selected for Master Chief Petty Officer and was assigned to HSL-37 as the Maintenance Material l Chief and in 1991 transferred to VS-38 as the Command Master Chief, where he completed two WestPac and Arabian depl E on RANGER CCV 615. In March 1993, he became the Command Master Chief ofVX+4 Test and Evaluation Squadron and after disestablishment the following year, became the Command Master Chief of Naval Air Warfare Station, Point Mugu, California, Cummings reported to his current duty station, Carrier Air Wing NINE, in October 1995 as the Command Master Chief Master Chief Cummings received a Bachelor s Degree from the University of La Verne, Magna Cum Laude in 1994, He more the Commendation Medal with gold star, the Navy Achievement Medal and various service awards as well as Submarine Dolphins, Warfare Specialist Wings, Enlisted Aircrew Wings and the SSBN Deterrent Patrol Pin with a gold and silver star. He is to the Sharon Jean Sanderford, and they currently reside in Oxnard, California with their son John and daughter Candice. Their son Natlhm is a Third Class Electronics Technician in the Navy, undergoing training for the Nuclear Power Program in Orlando, Florida. '
