H,gnf'9 www, wwf The mission of AlMD is to repair aircraft components in order to keep the air wing flying and the Supply storerooms filled. Four divisions 1450 menj with 28 work centers main- tain approximately 100 major aircraft systems for the nine types of aircraft embarked using over 100 major repair facilities and literally thousands of minor, yet vital, pieces of support equipment. The AIMD also repairs the Yellow Gear used to move, start, maintain and load ordnance on the aircraft themselves. IM-1 is the Staff Division. Production Control manages all of the repairable flowing through the AIMD using the new Status Inventory Data Management System QSIDMSJ com- puter. Administration provides centralized word process- ing. Material Control maintains the ship's 14,500 item list of support equipment. Quality Assurance ensures safety and quality workmanship. IM-2 is the General Maintenance Division composed of the Jet Engine and lnflight Refueling Store Shop, the Jet Engine Test Cell, the Engine Oil Analysis lab, the Airframes Shop, the Hydraulic Component Shop, the Tire and Wheel Shop, the Non-destructive Inspection Lab, the Parachute Loft, the Oxygen Shop, the Floatation Devices Shop and the lM-2 Staff. IM-3 is the Avionics Division composed of the Communi- cations!Navigation shop, the Corrosion Control shop, the Electric shop, with its satellite Generator shop and Battery Locker, the F14!A7!S3 Radar shop, the Electronic Counter- measures!Secure Communications shop, the EA-6B Van Complex, the A6!E2 Radar and IPTS work center, the Ver- satile Automatic Shop Test QVASTj work center, the Electro- Optics!Reconnaissance!Air Antisubmarine Warfare shop, the Calibration lab, the Electronic Module and Microminia- ture Repair shop and the lM-3 Staff. lM-4 is the Ground Support Equipment iGSEJ!Armament Division, and maintains about 2000 pieces of GSE used to move, start, maintain and load the aircraft.
