' '11 I ADMINISTRATIVE DEPARTMENT The five divisions of NllvllTZ' Administrative Department are involved with virtually all aspects of life aboard the ship. All work performed leads toward improvement of day-to-day liv- ing and enhancement of morale. X-1 Division includes the Captains Office, Print Shop, Chaplains Office and Post Office. The Captains Office has the responsibility for direct admin support ofthe Commanding Officer, maintains all officer records, ship's correspondence and directives, and classified material control. The Print Shop fills the requirements for numerous copies of the Plan of the Day, Flight Plan, and ship's newspaper as well as ship's direc- tives, operation orders and many other high priority, high qual- ity printed products. ln the Chaplains Office, the three Chap- lains assisted by the Yeomen and Religious Program Special- ists handle all administrative emergency leave, church services, and counseling. The men of the Post Office play a key role in maintaining crew morale by processing all oncom- ing and offgoing mail. They also provide all postal services normally found at a shore facility, including money order sales, package mailing, and processing registered and certified mail. The Administrative and Personnel Offices fall under the cognizance of X-2 Division. The Admin Office is the hub of the administrative network in NllVllTZ. In addition to being the departmental office, it also serves as the Executive Officer's support staff and is responsible for the daily production and distribution of the Plan of the Day, The ship's Personnel Office provides a full range of personnel and management support 156 services to the ship and crew. Service records maintenance, assignment of personnel to various departments, and monitor- ing the ship's manning levels are just a few of the personnel support functions provided. X-4 Division is comprised of the Discipline and Legal Offices and the Master-at-Arms Force. The Discipline Office is respon- sible for handling disciplinary matters quickly and properly, and the Legal Office, staffed by a lawyer and legalman, offers legal assistance to crewmen and serves as legal counsel to the command. The lvlaster-at-Arms Force is the ship's police de- partment, tasked with enforcing rules and regulations of the Navy and the NIMITZ. They also assist in maintaining the security of the ship, and assist in the enforcement of customs regulations. ' l Sports, tours, and recreation programs are the responsibil- ity of Special Services, X-5 Division. Special Services arranges low-cost tours during overseas port visits, sponsors sports competition programs on board and ashore, supervises the ship's gym and sauna, and maintains an athletic gear check- out locker for the crew. I , The lvledia Office, X-6 Division, is responsible for publishing the daily NllvllTZ NEWS and the ship's Family Gram. lvledra also provides overseas port visit information for the crew and supplies information about the ship to visiting press and VIP S- in addition, the Media Office is responsible for coordinating and scheduling programming for NllvllTZ television channels.
