On 15 December the ship returned to Pier 12, Norfolk Naval Station for the holidays. The men of Carrier Air Wing Eight began to arrive as the fourteenth day of 1976 dawned. Two weeks later, CVN 68 departed for Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The Air Wing was aboard forcarrier landing qualifications and the ship underwent refresher training under the watchful eyes of the Fleet Training Officer.
