Taylor Commanding Officer .Executive Officer S Two-hundred forty officers and men flying and maintaining 12 A-7E Corsair ll's make up Attack Squadron Eighty-Six from the Naval Air Station Cecil Field, Florida. Since 1951 the Sidewinders have flown the F-4U, F-8F Bearcat, FPF Panther, F7U Cutlass, A4D Skyhawk and three models of the A-7. Operating from ten different carriers, VA-86 has made a multitude of deploy- ments and met challengers in Korea, Cuba, and Southeast Asia. Sporting their coiled snake and bright orange diamond, the Sidewinders are proud to have taken part in building the fighting NIMITZ team.
