Captain James Ii Maaldin United States Navy Executive Officer Captain fames 11. llauldin, Executive Officer of N1.111TZ fCV!1N-682, reported for duty in December 1972. Prior to reporting to .W,11lTZ, the Captain completed nuclear power training in New Yorh and Washington, D.C. Captain .Wauldin graduated from Ceorgia Tech Cnioersity with a Hachelor of Science Degree in 1953 and a .Uaster of Science Degree in Physics in 1955. Following graduation, he was commissioned an Ensign and under- went Navy flight training in Pensacola, Florida, and Corpus Christi, Texas. From September 1956 until August 1959, the Captain served as a pilot and administrative officer with Attach Squadron TH11? TY-FIVE at the Naval Air Station, fachsonville, Florida. ln September 1959, and until func 1963, Captain fllauldin attended the Cali- fornia lnstitute of Technology where he earned a .Uaster of Science Degree and the Degree of.f1eronautical Engineer. ln fuly 1963, he attended the Safety School at the University of California and rcportcd to Attach Squadron FOR TY-FOUR at Cecil Field, fachsonville, Florida in September 1963. ln .March 19611, the Captain reported to Attach Squadron TIHR TY-FOUR and from llarch 1966 until Jllarch 1968 served in the aircraft carrier SflRx1TOCf1 as the aircraft handling officer. Following a tour in Washington, D.C. with the Center for Naval xinalysis, he reported to the Naval K1 ir Station, Lemoore, California, for duty with flttach Squadron ONE HUNDRED TWENTY- TWO as a replacement Pilot, with fittacl-t Squadron ONE HUNDRED FIFTY-1 1VE as Executioe Officer, and later as Cornrnanding Officer. ln july 1971 he began Nuclear Power Training at the Nuclear Power School, Vallejo, California. During his 20 years service, Captain Jllauldin has been awarded the Bronze Star ,Uedal and the National Defense Service Medal. Captain llauldin is married to the former .Vary lnman Hell of rltlanta, Ceorgia, and they have two daughters.
