Engblom Music The Music Department provides the com- munity and the school with many varied music programs. The Concert Band, perform- ing both as a concert ond marching band, is the largest organization in this department. The band makes trips to the two junior high schools to present concerts. The Concert Or- chestra forms the second of the major instru- mental groups. There are also several small ensembles, including the Stage Band, the Clarinet Choir, and the String Quartet. The choral department consists of the Concert Choir, the Mixed Chorus, and the Girls Glee. This department also includes several extra- curricular singing groups, such as the Val- halla Singers, a selected group of fourteen girls, and the Chamber Singers, a group of six boys and six girls specializing in seven- teenth century music. The choral and instru- mental departments join to present the school's Winter Music Festival of holiday music. The expression on Sharon Citron's tot® show» the con- centration needed to produce works of art. Art Understanding, excitement, sensitivity, and awareness are key words in the Art Department. The philosophy and attitude of the artist are stressed first; his tech- nique and method, second. Art classes introduce vari- ous means of shading, contrasting colors, sketching and other fundamental skills. The Art History course traces the art techniques of man.
