It ' s tea time in our new dining room, and seniors Phyllis Bush, Ellen Greiner, and Marilyn Mitchell sample the delicacies they have whipped up. Future homemakers receive training today at Niles in well-equipped laboratories compar¬ able to the most modern homes. A broad pro¬ gram for family living is offered to those of us who are looking forward to establishing homes of our own. In the home-economics department empha¬ sis is placed on the provision of food for the family. We learn the various aspects of plan¬ ning, buying, preparation, serving, conserva¬ tion, and storage in six kitchen units provided with the latest equipment. A beautiful living¬ dining area is used to give experience in enter¬ taining so that even the shyest girls become gracious hostesses. In clothing, problems of selection, care, con¬ struction, assembling accessories, and wearing an ensemble are a vital part of our program. The clothing laboratory, with its late model sewing machines, triple-mirrored fitting room, attractive social area, and large show cases, provides the ideal setting for learning. Homemaking, with its emphasis on selecting furnishings and equipment for the home to¬ gether with providing for the health and care of its members, is education for living.
