Gym Show Jim Kipp and Bob Mattux are Indian wrestling, one of the contests of the junior-senior competition. A group of senior girls during their traditional march- ing drill Senior girls marching, dancing, calisthenics, and the junior-senior competition are a few of the acts of the thirty-sixth annual Gym Show which was presented by the Department of Physical Education on March 24 and 25. The highlight of the Thursday night ' s performance was the junior- senior competition in which the seniors defeated the juniors 1 4 to 10. The competition was very close with the teams tied on two different occasions. The tug-of-war, which gave the seniors an additional three points, was the deciding factor of the competition. The student lead- ers were Charlie Thomas (seniors) and Bill Kubiak (juniors). T he first portion of the program was put on by the individual gym classes. One of the acts which has become tradition through the past few years was the comedy event entitled Guess the Title put on by the junior boys. This year the boys dramatized book titles, song titles, and the names of well-known television programs. Another act which has also become tradition is the senior girls ' marching drill, which was climaxed this year by the mass singing of the Niles Loyalty Song. The senior boys did calisthenics, the junior girls tap- danced and roller-skated, the sophomore girls did two dance routines, and the sophomore boys ran relays and played cage-boll. The senior cheerleaders, Mary Wellinghom, Bette Wornke, and Susie Harrison, during the competition. A group of cheering senior girls are the background. Five brides portraying the movie title Seven Brides for Seven Brothers are Larry Williams, Jim Surge, Bud McComb, Jerry Hunziker and Jim Kenny. 15

Band Bounce The 1955 Melody Queen was Susie Harrison and the members of her court were Diane Healy and Karen Hunziker. The world-famous Bremer town musicians are Mitzi Rapes as the Rooster, Marilyn Knauf as the Dog, and Jean Conner as the Donkey. Dean Buck imitating the Sentimental Gentleman Tommy Dorsey playing a trombone solo. The 30th annual Band Bounce was presented on March 31 and April 1 by the Instrumental Music Department. The concert portion of the program was presented by both the Senior Band under the direction of Mr. Richard Correll and the Junior Band under the direction of Miss Marjorie Mower. Using the theme of County Fair Time, the variety section of the show featured a group of Senior Band members in the roles of famous musicians. Larry McLauchlin, impersonating Gene Krupa, played the drum solo, Spook Session. As Larry played, the audience could even see the spooks dance. Mary Morton played a marimba solo, Caprice Viennois. Dean Buck, as the world-famous Tommy Dorsey, played the trombone solo, I ' m Getting Sentimental Over You. Daisy Eaves was the mistress of ceremonies. Highlighting the Friday night ' s performance was the crowning of the Melody Queen Susie Harrison and her court, Diane Healy and Karen Hunziker, An evening of fine musical entertainment came to a close as the combined band consisting of both Junior Band and Senior Band played Semper Fidelis. Roberta Sheperis and Jo Turtle are playing the Type- â– iter Song. 14
