Page 3 text:

Foreword We, the class of 1942, present this edition of the Tattler to you, the future classes of Niles High School. lt is our aim in this edition to portray accurately the activities of each member of the high school. We sincerely hope that We achieve our aim. As We, the class of l942, enter a warring World in which our country is fighting for its very existence, We assume a serious but confident attitude. We are aware of the peril our country is in and of the great effort and many sacrifices necessary to achieve final victory. However, We are confident that final victory shall be ours. Shortly, many of the boys of the l942 Class will join some branch of the United States armed forces. They are eager to get into the fight, and it will be found that they are neither lacking in courage nor spirit. Some boys of this class have already forsaken school Work for active service in the Army, Navy, or Marine Corps. The girls of the Class of i942 also have a big task to do. They must maintain the home front. We feel that our training in Niles High School has been sufficient to allow us to enter any defense industry and learn quickly to do our job efficiently. We also feel that it has been intensive enough to enable us to maintain a solid home front and Generally to serve our country efficiently and intelligently. DEDICATION MISS GERALDINE STUDENROTH This year the Senior Class has dedicated its Tcrttler to Miss Studenroth. A graduate of Northwestern University and a member of Alpha Omicron Pi, she also had the honor of being a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She came to Niles in l939, and in these three short years has won many friends who will long remember her, In addition to teaching, she has been debate coach. She has given a helpful hand to many students. We enjoyed her speech at the Iunior-Senior banquet because of the many memories which it revived of the last three years. Miss Studenroth will not be back next year, since she will be married this summer, We Seniors Wish her much happiness for her future life, page four
