Rear Admiral Donald A. Dyer Commander Standing Naval Force, Atlantic F-iearAdmiral Dyer was raised in Kansas City, Kansas. He graduated from the College of Architecture and design at Kansas State University in 1966, receiving his commission through the ROC Program. He has attended the U.S. Naval Destroyer School, and is a graduate of the Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Virginia, the Naval War College in Newport, Fihode island, and the National Defense University QCAPSTONEQ in Washington, D.C. As a junior officer, Rear Admiral Dyer served as Operations and Salvage Officer in USS ATAKAPA QATF-1495, and as Salvage Officer, Executive Officer and Commanding Officer in USS MOSOPELEAQATF-1581. He participated in numerous Vietnam combat operations as Engineering Officer in USS WILTSIEQDD-8731. As a senior officer, Rear Admiral Dyer senfed as Executive Officer in USS HAWKINS QDD-8735, Commanding Officer in USS McCloy QPF-10383, Commanding Officer in USS MOOSBRUGGER QDD-9801 which participated in Operation Urgent Fury fGrenadaJ and Multinational Peacekeeping Force Operations in Lebonon. ln July 1987, FlearAdmiral Dyerassumed duty as Commander Destroyer Squadron TWENTY-TWO, deploying to the Joint Task Force Middle Eastfrom Januarythrough May 1988. He also served as Commander of SAG DELTA and as Chief of staff to the Commander, Joint Task Force Middle East! Commander Middle East Force. ln otherassignments, FiearAdmiral Dyer has served as a Surface WarfareAssignment Officer in the Bureau of Naval Personnel, Aide to the Chief of Staff to the Supreme Allied CommanderAtlantic, Aide to the Chief of Naval Material, Director, PCOXPXO Training at the Surface Warfare Officers School Command, Newport, Fil, Deputy Chief of Staff, Plans and Policy, for the Supreme Allied Commander, Atlantic, and assumed current duty as Commander, Standing Naval Force, Atlantic on 15April 1992. FlearAdmiral Dyer is married to theformer Grace M. Harman of Kansas City, Kansas. They have tow sons, William and Paul and tow daughters, Dana and Elizabeth.
