IN MEMORIAM Luther Ausborne Lrgon was born Nlarch 30 1594 rn ielmrrrton North Carolrna and was educated rn the schools of hrs natrve state and comnrunrty He trarrred hrmself rn the plofessron of bakrng and was employ ed by the Paschall s Bakery of Drrrham for a whrle He came to the Oxford Orphanage to serve as Baker and Storekeepel and at the outbreak of World Wal I he entered the Servrce of hrs country He served farth fully as a soldrer rn Europe as a baker and recerved hrs certrtrcate as a graduate baker from the Armed Servrce rn Coblenz Germany After the war he returned to the Ol phanage and contlnued hrs work as Baker and Storekeeper wrth the Orphanage untrl the trme of hrs passrng Whrle at the Orphanage he met Mrss Sallre Mae Ol1VQ1 a teacher rn the Orphanage and they were marrred at her home at Cedar Grove North Car olrna rn Orange County on July '31 1929 Superrntendent Q K Proctor of the Oxford Orphanage p9lf01fl1eCl the ceremony Thrs frne couple were already a most valuable addrtron to the Ol phanage staff and COUt1Y1l1EKl to he even more valuable through the passrng years It was on the mornrng of January 20 1946 after slrpprng., on the rce outsrde of hrs apartment Ml Lrgon suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and paralvsrs and dled that nrght He was lard to rest rn the Lno Presbyterran Church c l'l1Ct6lV at Cedar Grove N C Hrs funeral was attended by a large number of sympathetrc trrends rncludrng a large number of hrs Masonrc Brethren from Oxford urer rn Oxford Chapter No 8 R -X M Hrllsboro Chapter No 190 O E S Oxford Commanderv No 39 lx T and Advrsor Lreutenant rn Woodnrerr of the 1Volld Camp No .26 He was also a member of QUfl'lY'l Temple A -X O N M S The entrre Orphanage fanrrlv sust rlned a loss rn hrs passrng from whrch rt cannot recover as hrs farthfulrress to hrs work and hrs lovalty to the Orphanage were of the hrghest order N11 Lrgon was a man of qu et unassumrng personalrty He went about hrs tasks rn hrs own quret way dorng hrs work farthfully and accurately Hrs depend abrlrty and hrs clean lrfe wrll be an rnsprr atron for many years to come He has tlarned many boys rn the scrence of hakrng some of whonr served rn thrs capacrty rn World War II Hrs presence rs greatly mrssed at the Orphanage and both chrldren and workers and the 'rdmrnrstlatron realrze more than ever the depth of hrs lovalty and the qualrty of hrs devotron Mrs Lrgon rlone rs left to mourn hrs loss as she contrnues her work as a teacher rn the Oxford Orphanage Our sympathy goes out to her and other loved ones as we realrze therr loss rn thrs hour Surely a lrfe lrke thrs does not end wrth the mere breakrng down of the body out rts quret frne rnfluence lrveth rn the hearts of those who knew hrm and enters an rmmortalrty of the hrghest sort DR CREASY k PRocToR 1 1 1 '- 1 . . 4 I l ' 1 1 1 ' .
