We sang 'The Night Has A Thousand Eyes,' 'Crawdad Song,' 'Let There Be Song,' and several others. The operetta, s hillbilly musical comedy called 'Kentucky Sue,' was the first that the high school has ever put on. To the All-State Music Festival, the Glee Club sent Arlene Thetgs as a representative. 0 gA.S M,Kr f C,B E.Olmstead J.Dutton S.L1senby J.BenBl9Y J-Horton M-King Eggs? V A R S I T Y Donald Cotton,manager3 Calvin Cornell, James Bixby, Edward Dimock, Harold Barnum Alden Tribe, David Preshur, Coach Dean. The squad put on the floor by Coach Dean for the '47-'48 basketball season was a vast improvement over the one which played the previous year, but circum- stances occurred which placed Nichols in much stiffer competition than encoun- tered during '46-'47,The appearance of Barnum on the Varsity as well as the im- proved playing of Bixby under the backboards combined to make for a team which at times played an excellent brand of bal1.0ur main fault lay in lack of height made up in part by an undaunted show of spirit. In the latter part of the sea- son Nichols triumphed over VanEtten in a close,we1l-fought game,3l-29.Prospects for next year are good, since most of this year's players are return1ng,allow1ng Coach Dean to put out a seasoned team.
