CL to RD L F Huffman J G Gagner, G.P. Verdi DASH lDrone Anti-Submarine Helicopterl is a weapons system capable of high-probabil- ity kill in an ASW environment. Working with men in AS and OI Divisions the DASH crew is capable of administering a short-notice launch and attack mission day or night. Car'- rying two torpedoes one drone can remain on station For an hour at speeds to 80 knots and ranges to 45 miles. Ship-to-ship trans- ter and remote vector control extends own ship 's contact range, thus utilizing the Full capability of the unmanned helocopter. Surf veilance and harassment are secondary functions of DASH. Division personnel, including the ship's only aviation ratings, are responsible for the maintenance and readiness of one mil- lion dollars worth of ship and air-borne equipment. DASH men also take charge of manned helo in-Flight refueling, a task called For during Search-And-Rescue and ASW assignments.
