Adopting modern teaching methods, Mrs. Barbara Summers shows her American His- tory class a history slide. First row: Barbara Nutter, Elizabeth McGill, Ricky Jones and Har- riet Smith. Second raw: Gary Wilson, Bob Johnson, John Hinkle, Jane Hinkle, Mrs. Sum- mers, Berry snoagrass, .um Cavendish and Darrel Cartwright. it looks as if Coach James Gladwell must have told his World History class another ioke. Forgetting their studies momentarily are, first row: Barbara Losch, Gene Strickland, Thurl Morris and Donald Bennett. Second row: Mary Bell Brown, Fred Foster, J. W Mink and J. D. Norman. We Learn More Than Reading, Writing... Finding the place they are studying helps these World Geography students remember the location, Discovering a new country are Kay Cogar, Judy Greaser, Mike Trimble and Emogene Hypes. 4 . 1 it Dates, dates, and more dates- History is a story of the lives, thoughts and action from the begin- ning of man's existence. Eager soph- omores venture forth into World History and World Geography to prepare themselves for American History the next year. Modern tech- niques, such as globes, maps, movies and slides help to relive the memorable events of history. Mem- orize the dates and learn the past events of the world to be more able to understand the world of today. Who knows-one of Us may be fea- tured in a history book someday.

Ralph Morris, instructor, gives these girls last minute instructions before they rake their operatofs test. Ready to depart are Helen Groves and Ruth Rader, as Judy Brown passes on her way to class. Working tirelessly, these Band I students have their eyes set on the big marching band, Busy practicing are, first row: Patty Facemire, Patricia Cavendish, Larry Jones, Delbert Vick- ers and Rornie Taylor. Second row: Janet Young, Mona Maynard, Nancy Wiseman, Rozella Abner, and Reva McMillion. Third raw: Dewey Berry, Edna Donaldson, Nancy Baker and Brenda Taylor. Varied Curriculum Develops Many Slcills Driver's education, band and vo- cational agriculture are some of the varied courses available to in- terested students. Any iunior or senior over I6 may enroll in one se- mester of driver's education. Don't run when you see the car coming: these students are the best trained drivers on the hill. Band is avail- able to students in grades seven through twelve. Join this group early and be proud to march in the big band later. Any boy who lives on a farm may benefit from tour years of training in the Vo-Ag de- partment. A varied curriculum helps develop a well-rounded student body. Using the planer and seeing if the edge is level is one of the varied iobs in shop Dickie Jackson and Charles Tucker look on as Bob Bell checks his work.

Putting what they learn to use, these students send up a hyclrogenvfilled balloon. Watching the iakeotf are Nancy McDowell, Ricky Jones, Mike McClung, Polly Brown, Mr. Pitsenbergar, Lawrence Young, Mike Lett. Clarence Wiblin, Joel Lee Groves, Gary Ramsey, Paul Woods, Dave Halbert, Janet Westfall, Jane Hinkle, Joe Summers, Eugene Jackson, Van Summers, Jack Perkins, Diane Galeener, Esther McCIung, Gary Stout and Dale Beam. Experiments Confirm 'Book Learning' Studying the instructions and measuring the chemicals carefully are necessary tor a successful experiment. Busy at work are, standing: Clarence Wiblin, Margaret Alley, Janet Westfall and Jane Hinkle. Seated: Lawrence Young, Gary Stout and Penny Nichols. Boyle's law, atomic weight and chemical sym- bols delight these students who combine atoms and molecules for unexpected results. Future nurses, doc- tors and chemists enioy discovering the various functions of nature. And, who knows, another Flor- ence Nightingale or Robert Boyle may come out of this group.
