7). AS. Sharon Damery, daughter of Mr. and Mr». Darrel Damery, was chosen to receive the D.A.R. Good Citizen Aword and represent Niontic-Harristown High School in stote competition. The aim of this project is to pay tribute to youthful character and to coll attention to those qualities which are desirable in good citizens. The oward is based on dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism to American ideals. Sharon was chosen for thisaword by the senior class and the faculty of the high school. Niantic-Horristown congratulates Sharon on receiving this oward and is proud to have her represent the school. 'Betit (Mm Margaret Ann Parish has been named Nian- tic-Harristown's 1964 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow. She received the highest score at NHHS on a written knowledge examination given to all senior girls on December 3, 1963. General Mills Inc., sponsor of the program, awarded Margaret with a Homemaker of To- morrow pin to signify this achievement; and her test paper has been entered in competition for state honors. S umi ftwjuk Ann Travis wos one of the 2,600 high school students awarded a monetary state scholarship award. The chairman of the Illinois State Scholarship Commission, Lloyd S. Michael, announced the 1964-1965 state scholarship winners. A total of 7,335 students qualified on the basis of high school academic record and performance on the American College Testing Program examination given November 9, 1963. Of this totol 2,600 have been granted Honorary Awards, and 1,037 hove been rejected further consideration by their choice of an out-of-state or unapproved college. All 7,335 students will receive Certificates of Merit in recognition of their achievement. The students will have until September 1, 1964 to finalize their college plans. Ann plans to ottend the University of Illinois for the summer term and major in mathematics for a career of teaching.
