With tireless effort, he has served he school and student body with o very ersonal interest. Our thanks go to Mr. Hickey as a fine principal and community eoder. Mrs. Pat Watson competently handled ler many duties as Mr. Hickey's secretary. MR. J. PAUL GARDNER Superintendent We wish to extend our appreciation to Mr. Gardner for the many contributions made toward our ever-expanding high school. With his continual interest in our school, Niantic has made spectacular progress in education and community relations. Mr. Gardner has served our school extremely well and has paved a new path for all students to follow. During most of the school year Mrs. Yvette Coutu capably served as Mr. Gardner's secretary. However, her husband was transferred to Pittsburgh, and in April Mrs. Ruth Rombach filled the vacancy. The Board of Education plays a vital role in the Niantic-Harristown School District. Since it functions behind the scenes, we are completely unaware of the prodigious amountof time its members mustdevoteto the many and varied duties. First, and foremost, the Board is the governing body. It must also see that an adequate teaching staff is hired, that the buildings are kept in good repair, that busses are maintained, and that the many other duties, too numerous to mention, are dispatched. We, the Senior Class of 1964, do deeply appreciate all you have done to make our entire school life memorable, and feel extremely fortunate to have spent our senior year in the attractive new surroundings. 6
