Colonel John Glenn, America's first space astronaut, speaking before a group of school administrators, recently commented, The stairway to the stars is lined with school books. His advice to our high school students was to continue to use their educational opportunities in continual growth and -to nurture their natural curiosities to probe the problems of the unknown. Our class of 'I963 will want to accept this challenge in searching out for the pyramiding new knowledge of its day in developing new technical skills and learning to use these in understanding man's place in tomorrow's world of space. Each class member will have the opportunity to shape the destiny of his future by using the knowledges, skills and understandings that he has learned at Niagara-Wheatfield. I am sure that familiar names found on the 1963 class roll will be proclaimed from the communications systems of the future, praising individuals for pushing back the shadows of the unknown in areas unthought of by us. These students will bring honor to our school. May I extend my sincere congratulations upon your gradua- tion and wish you the greatest of success in opening the doors of the future. Chas. R. Clark 6 This is a welcomed opportunity to bring to each of you greetings, congratulations and good wishes. The years at Niagara-Wheatfield have offered opportunity for growth and enioyment. Your record indicates you have eagerly sought new adventures in learning and sharing during your life there. The satisfactions you have found in your efforts and achievements you have had the pleasure of shar- ing day by day with your teachers, your family and your classmates. Your years at Niagara-Wheatfield extend over the entire lifetime of that institution and so your life there has had a particularly vital influence upon the establishment of the traditions by which every school gains repute and rec- ognition. Again may I offer my congratulations? Your Yearbook is in a way both a milestone and a record along your educational pathway. It is a privilege to share it with you. Mabel Sarbaugh Lee Wm.

lg Congratulations and best wishes to the Class of 1963. You are embarking on a way of life that will be entirely different from the past twelve or thirteen years. We trust that you have been adequately prepared to meet the challenges of college, work or family responsibilities that you are about to assume. For the most part you have received from your school training just what you have put into it. The future is up to you. Richard H. Eden ,XM . jf' 1 an , , LMI!!! fffdj 6,12 --W s X Another milestone has been added to your endeavors as you pass through the road of life, that of graduation from our high school. This is not the end of learning. For some it may be the terminal point of formal learning, others the start of higher education. Regardless of the path you pursue, value it as one of the important experiences of your'life. Never let it cease! Grasp each morsel, whether it be from novels, maga- zines, texts, newspapers or an instructional manual designed to aid in repairing an item. Nothing will replace books, the very foundation of all human experiences. Respect the values of your education! Be determined that it never wither on the vine. Keep your mind nourished with the very food it grows on-knowledge. Life is becoming more and more complex. The better you prepare yourself mentally, the greater your eventual satis- faction will flourish. The time may come again when you may return to formal learning to better yourself. If this materializes -attack your task as you have before. God speed in all your endeavors. Harold J. Mueller 7
