DEDIGHTIUH The academic year 1963-64 has heen a profoundly moving experience for students. In this year, we joined a grieving nation to mourn the tragic death of a nohle presidentg we watched as the state ahruptl y transferred the reigns of executive leadership and ri ghted itselfg we read the angry editorials which pointed to the hatred and prejudice which fester in our midstg we listened to the pleas for a re-assessment o f values and a new statement o f ideals and aspirations. And sometimes nodding in compassion At the more desolate minds of hate and indifference. In this time and place we are in a position to thank What nurtures our minds and broadens our souls. Beliefs and convictions are not meaningless sentimentalityg the Brotherhood o f Man is not a visionary' s hopeless dreamy commitment and courage are not mere words used in hollow oratory the heroism and nohility o f the past are not fiction. We students of Newton junior C olle ge, now proudly wearing the mantle o f accreditation which was given to us this academic year, do therefore dedicate ourselves and our yearbook to those ideals which inspired the fnest in our nation and in our world. 5
