PAUL E. ELICKER Principal R. PAUL EDGAR ELICKER has been in Newton l-ligh School since 1923, when he entered as a teacher of Mathematics. ln 1924, he was placed in Charge of attendance, promoted to assistant-principal in 1927, he became principal in 1932. Previous to entering our school he was a member of the MHS of several schools in New York and New Jersey. l-le has received the degree of A.M., from Columbia University, and that of Ed.M. from l-larvard. During his term as principal the Music Department has been enlarged and renovated. Few students realize that our principal is a national Figure in the world of education, At present, besides being listed in Whos Who ln Education and Leaders in Education, he is President ofthe National Association of Secondary School Principals, a member of the National Committee on Research in Secondary Education, a consultant on President Roosevelt's Advisory Committee on Educa- tion, a member of the National Council of the National l-lonor Society, and has recently been appointed a member for the World Congress of Education. Some of his past achievements include, lecturer in Boston University Graduate School of Education and examiner in Mathematics and New England Representa- tive For secondary schools lor the College Entrance Examination Board. During 1936-1937 he traveled in twenty-two states, studying schools for the National Survey of Secondary Schools ofthe American Council on Education. At present he is a member of the following educational clubs: l-larvard Teachers' Association, National Educational Association, National Association of Secondary School Principals, Massachusetts Schoolmasters' Club, Massachu- setts Principals' Association, Friday Evening Club, Jesse B. Davis Club, Phi Delta Kappa, l-larvard Graduate School of Education, and the Quinteped Club. Thus it can easily be seen that Newton High should justly be proud of its principal, not only for his Fine accomplishments here at school, but also for his nation-wide activities and renown. Mr. Raymond A. Green First came to our school in 1923 as a teacher in Social Studies. l-le had previously had teaching experience in schools in Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, etc. ln 19294930 he spent a year in Germany studying the German educational system. l-le was born in Pennsylvania and has received the degrees of A.B. and M.A. from Mullenberg and Columbia Colleges where he was a four-letter man. l-le has also studied at Harvard and even at Leiden University in Holland. l-le was commissioned in the army during the war. l-le has traveled extensively in Europe.
