X Y --1-4 X Seniors THE UNANIMOUS DECLARATION of the Senior Class of 1956 N H S When in the course of school events it becomes necessary for the Senior Class to dns solve the educational bonds which have connected it to the other classes and to assume the duties of citizenship for which their school life has prepared them a decent respect for the opinions of the other classes requires that they should transcribe this history leadlng up to their graduation We the Semor Class of 1956 entered the halls of N H S in the fall of 1952 feeling like traditionally green freshmen Our first experience in working together was choosing our motto Consider the past pay attention to the present look ahead to the future our colors blue and white and dues of one dollar each year We also elected Sandra Yetter president Edward Snook vice president Richard Epstem secretary and oan Snyder treasurer At the Welcome Freshman Dance held in September we were welcomed and looked over by the entire student body At the graduation ceremonies of the Class of 1953 David Auld and Anita Concillo were presented with the American Legion Good Citizenship Award As we convened for the second time we elected as class officers president Richard Ep stein vice president Thomas Scalzo secretary Richard L Van Auken and treasurer Dan lel Kent Mrs Howe and Mr Bruce were appointed to be our permanent class advisors Our main project was the Sophomore Dance for which the theme was Spring Festival At com average in our class for two years As uniors we began our third session late Even then the new building wasn t ready when school started and that new boy in the back row frequently turned out to be a plum ber or an electrician We elected Barbara Henderson president Richard Epstem vice pres :dent Richard L Van Auken secretary and Thomas Scalzo treasurer After lengthy de bating we chose the style of our class rings and received them in February We sponsored our second dance in December of that year In the month of May our unlor Play Time Out For Ginger which starred Pat Marron as Ginger and Mike Burke as her father was held The long antlclpated event the unior Prom was an artistic and social success Theme Evening in Paris To be elected a Senior Class officer IS the highest honor seniors can pay their fellow classmates We chose for president Rlchard L Van Auken vice president William Felker secretary Nancy Lawson and treasurer Beverly Morgan Act Your Age the Senior Play was a huge success ust before Chrlstmas our Senior Prom was held in the cafeteria The theme was Dancing in the Dark As we write this we are all looking forward with hope and expectation to graduation And for the support of this declaration and with a firm reliance on what the future holds for us we mutually pledge to each other our Lives our Fortunes and our sacred Honor Patrlcza Vasbznder Dorothea Pool Norma Powers 18 , . . . y - 9 9 7 . 7 ' ' ' . 7 I CC ' ' .77 7 7 3 3 S S - v S s ' 1 ,I 7 ' 7 7 . , . , . - Q ' 9 Q ' 7 ' . . .
