fam! car... Jafar, 531 Beacon Street, Boston, Mass. There is more to life than increasing its speed. -Gandhi Born February 8, 1921 XVilliams Illini, 1936-39g Student Council, 1937303 ' Dramatic Club, 193-l-39: President, 1938391 Latin Club, 1937-39: Baseball, 1931 Foot- ball, 1932 Class Book. VVe do not see much of Paul as he leaves early almost every afternoon and is cooped up in his study all day except during history. Returning after class wc End the results of his work and realize that he could not have been studying all the time. Probably the most agreeable fellow in our class, Paul can be relied upon to do his duty every time. He is a boy who really deserved to be elected to the Illini, and we are proud to have him represent us on the Student Council. There are two Paul Haleys: one, the serious student who so often has his name on the honor rollg and Paul. the prankster, who is forever thinking up crazy stunts to pull on his classmates. lLord knows how he does itll He is very active in behalf of the Megaphone, and of course his proficiency lor is it bull-slingingl in Latin makes him a member of the Latin Club. Last year, as President of the Dramatic Club, he aided in producing the best show Country Day has seen in a long time. Paul was a star member of all the athletic teams. until two years ago. when he was placed on the sidelines with a kidney injury. Paul is thc third Haley to graduate from this school and Country Day would certainly be fortunate to have another Haley to carry on their excellent records. 2575s

Jodie Wfgam gadan, r. 20 Locksley Road, Newton Centre BUD The smile that xvon't COIHC OH. -Standish Born july 1, 1922 Harvard it Mx Baseball, 1938-393 Football, 19395 Hockey, 1938-39, Captain, 1939, Tennis, 1938-39, Dramatic Club, 19395 Class Book: Glee Club, 1938-393 Megaphone, 1938-39. XVhen this little ray of sunshine joined our class in january, 1938, we were all affected by his cocky manner. Bud injected new joy of living land foolingj into what had been, up till then, one of the most studious classes in the school. He is the best all-round athlete in the school, he plays number one on the tennis team, was half-back on the football team until he hurt his ankle, was the high-scoring center on the hockey team last winter, and is at present the star shortstop of the baseball team, rating high in batting prowess. Bud has been accused of not taking things seriously, but that's not true, whenever he comes to school without any work at all done, he worries about it fully a quarter of a minute before dismissing it forever from his mind. 'ABud's quick wit and snappy rcpartee cause some of us to feel like dying with laughter, others just feel like dying. VVith all his activities on the sehool's athletic teams, it seems strange that he should have time for so many outside activities, but it is said that his gray Ford is a sight familiar to all Newton High girls, and that in summer he Ends time to wander over some of the easier golf courses around Scituate in the low seventies. If Bud can add a little talent for blufling to his irrepressible good humor and pep, he will travel far in the more prosaic side of life, that of earning a living. 'd6c3v

g'cAarc!,i1QrLrg, r. 101 XVoodlayyn Avenue, VVellesley Hills DICK HEN Born February 5, 1921 Harvard lllinig Megaphone Board, Business Manager, 1937-353, Business and Advertising Manager, 1935-39: Runner-up School Squash Tourna- ment, 1936, VVinner, 19373 Tennis Team, 1937-393 Manager, 19383 Student Council, 1936-39, President, 1938-39, Latin Club, 1937-39, Treasurer, 1937-331 President, 1938- 393 Glee Club, 1936-395 Orchestra, 1933-36g Dramatic Club, 1939, XVinner Houghton XVritten English Prize. 1937 and 1938, Foot- ball Manager, 1938-39. Out of my way, folks! Up till twelve-thirty last night but 1've still got my' French, Latin, English, and History to do! Yes, that's Dick Henry! A meek soul, he's a mainstay in our great institution of learning. His life consists of three lsometimes two! meals a day, live and three-quarters hours of sleep a day, and the rest one big rush. No, he wasn't out for football, but that was because he was playing on the squash team. Tennis in the Spring keeps him limbered up between exams. Ile happens to be the President of the Student Council and a member of the Illini. To keep busy XVednesday nights, he manages to preside over a Latin Club meeting or two. Although he sometimes comes to school sleepily, he wouldn't miss the Saturday afternoon foreign-policy lectures. Of course, Sunday he takes up his hobby: birds. But, then, even though he does have to lead Audubon Society bird-walks, that's fun, not work. Real pleasure, he says, preparing to tell folks why a ehiekadee isn't a xyhite-tliroated Sparrow. , Perhaps you wondered why the Megaphone came out with covers the last three times. '1'hat's Henry. Between classes he generally nabs at least a couple of men for a half-page ad in the Meg . You guessed it - he's our Business Manager. XVhat's that, llenry? No delayed test in French? You know your idioms like breath on the yyindoyv-pane? Up till one the other night? The trouble with you is, you don't allocate your time well! XVliy don't you get up and do something! Youre going to Harvard, not Poclunk! Always wasting time! No. 1 haven't any pity on you Seniors! 'Q855'
