SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY Mr. Havnaer and I have just completed a wonderful new invention. We have been working on it for six months. We call it the SM and YH. It enables us to gaze years into the future. lust for fun, l'm going to look into the device and see what the seniors of 1947 and 1948 will be doing in several years. First, I see Iimmy Bolick, Gerald Abernathy and Richard Alexander, civil engineers, working in New York. The former Misses Dorothy Jones, Betty Deane Stinson and Doris Wilson have entered the holy bonds of matrimony and are very happy housewives. Billy Fox is making a world wide campaign for the March of Dimes. Johnny Dellinger is his capable campaign manager. Yvonne Martin and Nellie Buckner are nurses at the Charlotte Memorial Hospital. Clyde Fortenbury is still working in the Dixie Home Store. Incidentally, he is manager now and Sidney Cline is assistant manager. Theda Hollar and Betty Lackey have a musical radio program. If you happen to be at home on Wednesday evening at 8:30, listen in. Nancy Workman and Nelma Smith are famous secretaries in Chicago. Joe and Charles Epps are attending Duke University and are planning exciting careers. Nethelee Williams and Dora lean Melchor are Powers' Models in New York City. Billy Butler now has a Portrait Studio of his own. If anyone is interested in having his picture taken, please notify Glenn Mcliinnis, his advertising agent. Peggy Herman is a private secretary. She is engaged to marry her boss in lune. The world famous author, Eddie Simmons, is writing another novel entitled Torzzorrow is Forever. llis private secretary is Imogene Rockett. Willard Workman and Rudolph McRee are teaching school in California. Sam Kincaid and Charles Lofland own a Soda Shop in Conover. Ed Garris and Bill Gilbert are their soda jerks. Frances Link, Eunice Loftin and Dixie Spencer are newspaper reporters for The Clzrorziclef' This paper is owned by Marcus Rowe and Cyril Yancey. Doris Jean Hewitt, Nellie Eckard, and Wadine Martin are planning lifelong careers. Each one is planning to be married in the summer. Frederick Setzer and lohn Long Herman are joint owners in a clothing store for men. Men, if you need a new suit or hat, don't hesitate to call the Setzer-Herman Clothing Store in Newton. ,Barbara Bolick and Mary Lee Smyre are models in California. Rachel Allen and Catherine Setzer are Bookkeepers in Denver, Colorado. They are making successes of their careers too. Elizabeth Benfield and Dot Setzer have recently become brides. They are living in Charlotte now. Fred Patterson is studying to be a surgeon at Wake Forest. He expects to graduate next year. lust before I saw my future, Mr. Havnaer broke the SM and YH by trying to add another gadget to it. Oh, well, it is said that things don't always work out the way you plan them. Maybe we will have better luck next time. Page Twenty-one
