CLASS HISTORY Now that we, the Seniors of nineteen hundred forty-eight, have come to the day of graduation, we look back into the years we have spent in Newton-Conover I-li to see what we have ac- complished. First, we notice ninety-two 'fgreenn freshmen entering the big building. We ran from room to room trying to find out what room we should be in. But we soon learned what was expected of us and where our place was. For our able leader we chose Cyril CDibD Yancey. This year was very profitable to us, not only in books, but also in the making of new friends. The sophomore year was a great thrill for all because we were no longer called green freshmen. Joyce Rockett ClVirs. John Yanceyb led us through a successful year. We looked forward to our junior year with wide eyes because we were to be the proud publishers of our school paper, the H i-Life. Then we selected our class rings which were a real treat for all. With the coming of spring everyone was in a whirl plan- ning for the most elaborate Iunior-Senior Banquet Newton- Conover Hi had ever seen. Fred Patterson was our capable leader for that year. Now we have come to nineteen hundred forty-eight, the year of graduation for fifty-one seniors. Iohnnie Dellinger was chosen president to lead us through. An important task for us was the publication of our yearbook, the CARDINAL, which, under the able guidance of Joe Epps, was a success and will always be a dear memory to all of us.
