08 THE CARDINAL wr li, ll 1 YB LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the Class of 1936 of the Newton High School, do hereby make and declare this to be our last Will and Testament, in the form and manner as follows: To the superintendent, faculty and School Board. we hereby will and bequeath a most sincere expression of gratitude for the many hours spent in preparing us for the unknown road, which we are now entering at the end of this school year. To the community as a whole, we hereby will and bequeath our appreciation for making this school system possible and for the whole-hearted support given us in our student activities. To the Junior Class. we hereby will and bequeath our Senior privileges, our Senior dignity. the key to the candy room and our success with the Hi4Life and CARDINAL. To the Sophomore Class, we leave the carvings on the desks, chairs and tables. To the Freshman Class. we leave the ambition we had to make ours the best all-round class to graduate from N. H. S. Ollo Clark has been employed by Coley's Florist Shop as head of the designing department. .lack Barringer has been commissioned as lst Lieutenant in the U. S. Army. Mrs. McRee tthe former Miss Ocoee Sigmonl has gone to visit her husband who is employed in New Orleans, Louisiana. Milton Sharpe has been transferred from Midstate Cloth Mill No. 13 to No. 23. Dot l.ong. president of the U. D. C. has gone to the convention which is being held in Charleston. S. C. Lloyd Coley. multi-millionaire. has made another fortune from his Get Rich Quick Bonds. Robert Cochran. well known Catawba farmer, has gone to Washingt'on, D. C. to speak before the Farmers' National Convention. Mildred Austin has opened a reducing school in Cats Square. l.uther McRee. well known track star. has won the 500 meter race held in St. Pauls, N. C. Miriam Shuler has opened a night club on 5th Avenue, Connelly Springs, N. C. livelyn Crowe. famous blues singer, has gone to sing before t'he Crown heads of Europe. Bertie Jones. socialite of Sweetwater. N. C. has become engaged to Mr. Tweedlebaum of New York City. . Joel Simmons. pride of Conover. N. C., has entered the Golden Gloves Contest, as a conf testant in the light-weight division. Pauline Hunsucker won lirst place in Major Bowes' program. She impersonated Minnie Mouse. Howard Young has been appointed overseer of the northern route of the Charlotte Observer. Charlene liisher has gone to Catfish to open a training school for men who are inter- ested in mixing cocktails. l-enna Faw won honorable mention at the beauty contest held in Newton. N. C. Forrest Lingerfelt. well known story teller over W. J. I. B. is spending her vacation at her home in Newton. Iivelyn Bolick has opened a dancing school in Conover. N. C. Elizabeth Yount. famous milliner, has gone to Paris to secure some new fashions. Arthur Yount has gone to Europe to study the chemical reaction of acid with a secret formula he has just discovered. Frances Raymer has opened a chain of dentist oliices in Asheville. N. C. Edith Gilbert has received her training as a nurse at the Toluca School for Mental Defectives. Grace Hunsucker has appeared before the Conover Women's Club as a model for the Marseille Clothing Store. Hattie Bolick has gone to Italy to study art. Dorothy Huffman has opened a rest home for mental cases in Newton. Annie Rae Hewitt has accepted a position as waitress in the Newton Cafeteria. While my friend was giving this information. it brought back old memories of the class of '36. I left for Australia the next day. feeling that all my dreams had come true.
