Text from Pages 1 - 96 of the 1988 volume:

operyites ae ur Ladys Newton Catholic High School This is how we looked in 1955; That was then... . We, the Our Ladys Newton Catholic Class of 1988, wish to dedicate our yearbook to our very own class advisor, Sister Marianne Moriarty, S.N.D. Some people say she’s a little crazy and a little hyper, but with an active class like ours, she’s exactly what we needed. She always looked after us, listened, and respected what we had to say. We realize that we didn't al- ways take the time to say Thank You, Sister. We hope you will always re- member this dedication as a token of our appreciation for your caring and dedication (and tolerance . . .). We apologize for any grey hairs we may have caused. Best of luck always, Sister. We are very proud of UN- LIMITED EDITION’S first year in publication. We wish to express our grati- tude to Mrs. MacDonald and her staff for a super job. Keep it coming!!! 29 YEARBOOK STAFF 87-88 | It's Sunday, February 21 (12:30 P.M.) and I'm in the yearbook office. Fourty-two pages must be in by Tuesday. The lab mangled the girls’ basketball team picture. Our photographer from Hilton can't seem to find the JV team picture. | still need a photo for page 76, Joan, where are you?! | need that copy typed now! Who's doing the ad layouts? Jeff De- lovey, | need your baby picture! Kim, do something other than pick on Joan, please! What is Peter Gould going to leave in the class will? OK, things are getting out of h and. Mary Jeanne just photo- copied her face again. We've got people like Russell Heamer writing for us. Look Sister, the ceiling is leaking again. Ah, let's take a break. Who could give us a ride to McDonald’s? Oh Russell. . . Yearbook has been, err, well, quite a challenge this year. As Editor-in-Chief, I've been hassled, nagged, yelled at, complained to and perpetually harassed. I've spent Saturdays, vacations, snow days and many long nights writing, organizing, lay- ing out, drawing, re-writing and re-organizing what | believe to be an original and creative yearbook to represent the class of 1988. My staff, those who stuck with me, have done a heck of a job and all deserve a pat on the back: Thanks for all the hard work, guys. I'd like to thank Tom Barnes from Hunter Publish- ing Co. for all his help and for just being a great guy. Special thanks to Hilton (Sean) for dealing with all the mix-ups. A lot of people outside of my staff were a great help in getting the book put together; to name a few: Brian Pyke, Russell Heamer, Tony Zegarelli, Lori Richmond, Paul Hughes, Peggy Hewitt, Don Dabenigno, Maura Prince, Phototime in the Arsenal Mall, John DePasquale, and Fr. Con- way. To these people | extend my gratitude and appreciation. Special thanks goes to our modera- tor, Sister Marianne for all the time she spent with us getting this thing done. You can have your office back now Sister Mary Rose. Whew, It looks pretty good. | think it was all worth it. Don't you? UR LADY'S NEWTON CATHOL 37 BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL Hardship was a characteristic mark of this year’s season for the Boys’ Basketball Team. Shifting coaches in mid-season was an un- expected challenge that the team had to meet. However, Coach Dabenigno was the spark that the team needed to motivate them for the duration of the season. Stephen Per- ruzzi and Joey McLaughlin deserve a big round of applause for never giving up their belief that with confidence and determination the team could look back on their efforts with pride. Thanks, Mr. “D!” Best wishes to the team of “87-88.” (Back Row, L-R) Coach Don Dabenigno, John O'Leary, Sean McHugh, Tony Zegarelli, Bruno Marini, Assistant Coach Frank Censullo. ATES This year’s JV basketball team over- came just as many hardships as our varsity Lancers did. Under Coach Frank Censullo the team showed great enthusiasm, dedication and determination. This year’s team was made up of a bunch of talented, eager players with the potential of soon becoming excellent OLNC Varsity players; Captain Aldo Zegarelli, Nick Panzeri, Bill Hut- chins, John Rufo, Ted Cromalo, Jim DeMittis. 42 BOYS JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL CHEERLEADING A key name for our Cheerleading Squad this season could be “The Mighty Five.” Despite many obstacles that they had to hurdle, the squad met the challenge and came out victo- rious. Thanks for all you did to spur our teams to victory — whether that meant a game well played or awin. We are very proud of you and we want you to know it. Congratulations!
