EVENTS AND TRADITIONS “Sh-h-h-h, he’s shooting a foul shot!” New- port News fans exhibit their well known sportsmanship at the Hampton basketball game. “Best of luck to the Class of 1962,” says Senior Class president, Hor- ace Underwood, as he transfers the traditional cap and gown to Bill Bryant, President of the Junior Class. After their arrival at school and before homeroom period begins, Cho Gillespie, Alvin Downs, and Banning Crossley spend their time waiting for the girls. Meanwhile Annette Rouse, Sharron Weaver, and Judy Sawyer spend their time primping. It seems as though these students are thor- oughly enjoying their snack at the Y. M. C. A., since a favorite teenage diet consists of cokes and potato chips. 15
