They have given freely of their time and talents for many long years, and we are privileged to have this opportunity to thank them. Mrs. Hurt, teacher of history, is the senior re- tiring teacher in years of service. She has made her subject a vital and living thing and has aroused in her pupils an interest which will long remain. Miss Burbank, teacher of senior English, has proved an inspiration to all with whom she has come in contact during her 35 years here at New- port News High School. She has unceasingly tried to instill within her students an appreciation of great literature and to aid them in their own literary efforts. Miss Brasher, teacher of typing, has been in the school system since l924. She has been an efficient and exact instructor of this practical art, and has ably prepared her students for the com- mercial world. And so we, the students of Newport News High School thank these three teachers who have served us so faithfully. We extend to them our very sin- cerest wishes for a most happy time in the follow- ing years, and we hope that they will remember us with the same fondness with which we shall re- member them.
