ONLY ONE There are many, many houses in the world but to each of us there is only one home. There are many, many schools in the world but to each of you there is only one school. There are many, many persons of the opposite sex in the World but one day you will find, I hope, that there is only one for you. These are fundamental loyalties of life and they arise from the fact that these agencies have properly filled fundamental needs. The school career which you are now closing' has, I trust, exhibited a fulfillment of the fundamental obligations a school has toward its members. If you are leav- ing with a sense of satisfaction in your career here, with a feeling of com- fort as you look back upon your school associations and with a feeling of confidence in what it has given you, then we have both succeeded. If there is frustration or a feeling of having missed something, and a lack of cer- tainty as to just what you are carrying away with you, then someone has failed. Go forward on this day with a determination to cultivate and en- hance that which you have received and to seek anew that which you do not now have. Herein will lie success and satisfaction in life. mme

,. Y., , DEDICATION The staif of the February 1939 Annual dedicates this book to Miles l,. Tlmmipsorn, for many years instructor in printing at Newport News high school. I His help to disciples of Gutenberg or Horace Greeley is well known. Workers on the Beacon newspaper and annual are grateful for his advice and cooperation. His service to the school in its other multitudinous print- ing jobs is great. Advisers to activities needing programs, tickets, placards, well know his contribution. Indeed, it would be difficult to mention any phase of our school life in which he does not have a part. Printing has made an invaluable contribution to the world. This printer has made a valuable contribution to our school life. We value it highly. Five
