Senior Trip - May 24 to 31. Magic dates! Red Letter days! Senior trip days! Washington D. C and New York City time! We met our bus in Indianapolis, where we also met our fellow-travelers, seniors from Huron High. Our first thrill was the sight of the Leveque-Lincoln Tower, a sky- scraper 556 ft. high in Columbus, Ohio, where we stopped for lunch. Evening found us in the heart of the Golden Triangle at Pittsburgh, Pa. Our headquarters were at the Roosevelt Hotel. The following morning found us Turnpike bound as we passed such landmarks as the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Tech, and Forbes Field. Cm the Turnpike, we had a Church on Wheels - a unique experience for us all. Leaving the Turnpike at Carlisle, famed for the school which Jim Thorpe attended and for the home of Molly Pitcher, we toured the battlefield of Gettysburg where we saw many famous statues as well as the Eternal Peace Light, one of three in the world. Late afternoon found us checking in at the Annapolis in D. C. We had arrived in our nation's capitol via the National Cathedral and Embassy Row. Our night tour of the city was so very informative and beautiful, for it showed us the many attractions of our capitol. Names became realities on the tour. Monday was packed with sight-seeing adventures - the Capitol and Congress, Mt. Vernon, Alexandria, Arlington, the Smithsonian - our experiences were many and exceedingly interesting. Tuesday found us northward bound. At Philadelphia, we visited Independence Hall where the Liberty Bdl hangs, Ben Franklin's grave, and Betsy Ross's home. We reached New York City by way of the Jersey Turnpike and the Lincoln Tunnel. Our hotel, the McAlphan, was on Herald Square near the Empire State Building. More excitement awaited us - our visit to the United Nations, cruise around Manhattan, bus tour of lower Manhattan, trip to the top of the Empire State Building, visit to Radio City, boat trip to the Statue of Liberty, plus the extras such as our visit to Broadway and Coney Island. We really made good use of our time. What did we care about sleep? We could sleep when we got home. Friday saw us heading west. We enjoyed our stop in the Chocolate Tovsm, Ilershey, Pa. We also saw Harrisburg, Pennsylvania's capitol. In the evening we found ourselves checking in at the Roosevelt in Pittsburgh once more. Saturday, we were content to just ride and review our experiences. Happy, but tired, we arrived in Indianapolis that evening with suitcases full of souvenirs and dirty clothes and heads full of very happy memories. Compliments of CLARK'S CHEVROLET SALES WILLIAM R.
