25533331 eaeaiwwwaesa xmas? ek A Wal 042' rm .uqa .al N., JE- vid A444 505 fb? ff N9 BASKET B ALL The basketb 111 season was not a great success in the num bei of games won but It must not be considered as a failure The team as 1 whole was fi1st class and put up some splendid fights against almost certam defeat and practically all the g Lmes won were close At the openlng of school prospects looked good for a win nlng team With Evans Davis Huxford Casebeer and Evgles ton of last ye Irs team back IH school and Pugh Myers and Thomas as subs work started with a rush The vsoxk of pre palat on began the second week of school Supt Parker was chosen as coach and Faculty Manager Paul Casebeer was elected as captam Coach Parker soon showed his ab1l1ty and dlsplayed much enthus asm ln turning out a winning team Dana was played first and they won 30 to 27 Although the game was close It bl ought out many weak points and a general shake up was made This change of line up p1 oved much better and when Cayuga came the follow ng Frmd v they were defeated 99 18 The team work and play was much better than that of the pre ceding game The defense was strong and showed up good but the offense was poor lack ng speed nd accuracy in basket shooting consequently many shots were missed The coach notlced this and in the next p1act1ce he set to wo1k to overcome this Peuysvxlle came the next Friday and they never had a look in The N H S had the game from th start Coach Rltter used eight new men but could not stop the rush of the N H S thmclads They fed the ball to Evans who could cage it from any angle Cayuga was played next at Cayuga 1n a sea of mud They sprang a surprlse and slipped one over on us bv a small margin Our first game on the floor was played at Perrvsville The team was playmg undei a great handicap, as they had no floor to practice on The slick floor of the poorly lighted dance hall and mterference of spectators did not stop the N H S war rlors, for they were there with the fighting spirit and held them to a scoie of 25 23 Th s is something that no other team of N H S or any other high school in th s section of the country ever has done, for it is nearly impossible for strangers to win on their flooi The team was in fine shape and iourneved to Rockville on Thanksglv ng Dav to plav R H S The N H S played the fastest game of the year there. being defeated 19 to 17 lt was said to be the fastest game plaved thexe this season It was IFV7 sq, if W , W if 'iaxyfaj KAR, if Q ,V-aff W ,Lf Xsh- 5 - ,hc QL: -A aa- Q4 ' ' ! - ra LA 1. 1, 14.
