daily you show progress through achievements in No matter what proiects you participate in or what clubs you might be interested in, you can find them all at Newport High School. Through its well-rounded program of student activities, your school life is greatly enriched and your talents and personality are given every chance to grow. An active interest in school organizations will develop leadership and experience that will play an important part in your life after graduation, no matter what your future plans might be. Each and every student interest is well fulfilled at your school, ranging from large organizations to small specialized groups. The athletes at the school enioy fellowship in the N Club, while the talented ones turn to the music or choral organizations. Educational films, an important part of your training, are well managed by the Visual-Aids department. Through the efforts of a hard working publica- tions department, the school is kept well aware of the news through the Newporter and the yearbook. The Student Council does a wonderful iob at school government and is the vital link between the student body and the administration. Other important organizations, too numerous to mention, all do a fine iob in their respective fields. here you learn to As in every community the school life of Newport High is well-woven into the life of the community. Any action, good or bad, by the students of a school is a reflection of the school system and of the community itself. But the stu- dents of your school try in many dif- ferent ways, to bring honor to your community. Being in a large metropolitan area, Newport has the benefit of many activi- ties that are offered by businesses and industries. The students of your school continually take an interest in these activities and are among the winners of many awards. In the city itself, the students show their elders that the city can be run in the future as it has been in the past. The governmental depart- ments of the city are carried on well when once each year they are run by the students of your school. Another fine example of their interest is the day they manage the local hospital, under helpful supervision of hospital personnel. Many fraternal and religious organizations call for help, and find the answer in the students of Newport High. All of these things are done by the student in hopes that adults will realize that the high school teen-ager is look- ing to the future with a belief that it can be improved through hard work and self confidence. ln your town the student brings your paper, fills your gas tank, sings in your choir, stocks your supermarkets, baby sits for your children, and delivers your groceries. All these things help to pro- vide a sense of pride to both the mem- bers of your community and the students of your high school.
