They also aid the guidance director in counciling, and are considered a personal friend to everyone. The moving force behind Newport High School is the Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, and Principoi. This group formulates the policies of school government. The school board is made up of civic minded citizens who are interested in the progress of our schools. Supt. Anderson D. Owens is serving his twenty-sixth year as Superintendent of schools. He co-ordinotes the policies of the board with actual school life, One of the most important persons in our school is our principal, James L Cobb, who is oiways willing to guide us, It is he who enforces school laws and sees that our school runs smoothly. Mrs. Gladys Garner - Guidance Director Mr. C. R. Little - The Attend- ance Officer Mrs. Garner has charge of test- ing such as aptitudes, person- ality, etc. Each senior is called in for individual interviews. and assistance is given in selection of vocations and col- leges. Mr. Little keeps a complete record of everyone of school age. When our students are repeatedly absent, he visits them to learn the reasons. These sometimes aren't valid !
