Seniors are compositions Of laughter and memories. Remember when we were Freshmen, Nearly tardy all September? Where did we put that ole' schedule? The one we could never remember. In no time at all, we were Sophomores, Sayin Hi'l again to the crowds, Learning to speak to SENIORS Without looking quite so proud. And then, by gosh, we were Juniors. We began to have meetings and things; Electing four manly class officers; An eventually ordering rings! In May, we danced at our very own Prom. Decorations were never gludder! Hummer Remember the fun we had painting? And how Russell fell OR of the ladder? The Senior Class of 45, That's us, we admit with c: grin! We're planning so many wonderful things; We can hardly wait to begin! Remember our autumn carnival? Complete with clowns and confetti? And the time we trudged lo Shillito's, Trying so hard to look pretty. It was fun to help with the Annual, To boost our own Class Ploy. Then all too soon, it was over, And come Commencement Day. Yes, Seniors are full of memoriese Those thoughts we can always retrieve. And as we slt around and talk On Graduation Eve, The truth, if told, I'm sure, would be, We really hate to leave! NORINNE SCHOECH Flower-Americun Beauty Rose ColorseFuchsiu and Powder Blue Mottoe'United we stand; divided we fall 03710 P i'lEClj Racing is back! May 13, 1955, the President of the United States, MISS CHARLOTTE WEBER, has lifted the ban and Churchill Downs is once more the scene of hubbub with bustling betters and iostling iockeys. So we're off to the races! As we iump from the bus, JOHNNY McDER- MOTT, iitterbug extraordinary, ioins us in a mad dash for the betting window. AL SCHOMAKER takes our bets immediately, but we linger to speak with that l'tooth-pclste ad girl, GINNY MANYET. ED CASEBOLT, Times-Stor reporter, gathers Interviews from orator, BOB SANDMAN and sportsman, ELMER HIRTH. FRED SCHlOSSER and DON WEINER, ace photographers, snap Captain STAN PERRY of the A. A. F. and Admirals BOB HASEKOESTER and BOB SCHOMAKER. As we make way to our seats we hear ERNEST TOLL and LOUIS WILSON '-'Peanuts, popcorn, crucker-iucks! Sayethere's JEANNE AXT, prominent radio personality, and LOIS CAHILL, sportswoman, gossiping chummily. DON KING and GEORGE SCHWERMAN, basketball coaches, stop by to report their shouting revolutionary play designed to completely re- organize the game. Now the milling crowd begins to settle in their seats as bugler, BUDDY DAUNT, calls the horses to their posts. BILL ERB, in the broad- casting room, announces the beginning of the first race. They're oft! The big moment begins. At the quarter is i'Rubber Band stretching ahead and 'Chewing Gum sticking close to the rail. Springwuter is still in the running. The photo- finish reveals Small Change cashing in. Both iockey, RAY THOMAS, and owner, MARIAN SEIBERT, are congratulated by the governor of the state, RAY MEINERSt Speeding ahead of the crowd, we encounter Murine Lt. JIM STOKELY and Commander MEL STEPHENS of the Coast Guard who suggest we visit the Louisville omcer's Club. And here, sitting at a table, drinking HRum 30 and Coca Cola are Army Lts. JACK STRAUS, RAY STELLAR, and RUSSELL BEZOLD. The iuke box is sounding out with a murimba solo by BERTHA DAVIS, accompanied by LILLIAN TEMPLE and her HAll-qu Orchestrct.H Russ o'Ffers to take us to our hotel in his DECKERT Deluxe Convertible. Dangerous curve aheadeCrcsh! We fell out of the car to discover that we have run smack into the Caroling Cutie Quartet : MARY MALONEY, DOROTHY NEISES, KATHRYN KANE, and JOANNE WIECHMAN. But we have no time to argue, for shrieking sirens announce the arrival of ttrewomen: DOLORES KNOLL, IVA KOHNEN, REVA McCLURE, and MARCELLA MUENCH. The policemen, BOB BALDWIN and RICHARD HlNEMAN, now barge in to take us to WELTE Hospital, where we are given first aid by nurses, DOLORES REUTER BETTY BRINGMANN. and Nothing can stop us so we trudge on to JOE GATES' Theater for the premiere of The Amor- ous Apple or Who Bit First? starring MARTHA ANN OTTING and BOB WEJNER. After the show we sight-seei' and find RUTH CONWAY'S Dress Shoppe nestled next to ELAINE VELTEN and SHIRLEY VOLKARtS Mitlin- ery Manor. Stop, everyone! There's GARRETT'S Pool Emporium. Our prowi finally takes us to the Derby Nite Club, owned and operated by JACK RAUH and TOM HARTWIG, featuring RICHARD HURD'S orchestra with PEARL BROWN, vocalist. TOM COLLINS is Master of Ceremonies. In the Hour show are The Nutcrackers, JACK FAUSZ and BOB LEWIS. As an added attraction Bob Hope drops in to introduce his new script writer, WINNA BELCHER. Winna tips us oft to a swell new eating spot, NANCY'S HOLLIDAY Inn with BERNIE ZAKEM, chief chef. Enjoying the food here care skating champion, AUDREY WEJD- INGER; artist, MARIETTE BOROCCO; fashion commentator, MARY JANE DIERINGER; and buyer at ABNEY and CARR'S Department Store, BETTY DEWALD. 0371063 IQECli After all, this night-owling isn't good for our compiexionsewe're tired, so we wend our weary way to the HUDDLE Hotel where we are greeted by Manager, RICHARD KELLER. On the register we notice the familiar scrawls of NONIE SCHOECH, housewife, and MARY JEWEL PLOSS, historian. This is luck! We'll call them in the morning . . . Songs and shouts and laughter wake us from 0 sound sleep. Right out in the square, figures dressed in flowing white, dance fairy-Iike around the Maypole. let's go down! JULIA ANDREWS has arranged the music, and now she's playing the piano for the dance. Here, crowned the queen of May, is EMILIE ARNOLD. The figures in white slowly begin to drift away. The dance is ended. We start 0H at a leisurely pace to do noth- ing but MARIAN BATES, Professor of Home Economics at the University of Louisville, greets us and extends an invitation to have tea at the college. Tea is at four which leaves us plenty of time to browse about the campus. Marian takes us to the oFFice of the bookkeeper of the uni- versity, JANE FAIGLE. PATSY FOSTER, secretary to the dean, is with June. They both offer to show us the well-equipped office where the genial dean, PAULINE MOORE, welcomes us warmly. Then we're off to inspect the various buildings and departments. PAULINE ARATA'S curt class is working with oils, but they stop to sketch us. My, my! We hear a thousand typewriters pounding. No wonder, GLADYS STENKEN has her commercial cioss working hard. MARGARET POWELL, too, keeps her Charm Class busy learning to be graceful, attractive, and charm- ing. iWhen we arrive, JOYCE FENHOFF is trotting backward and forward with a huge dictionary balanced on her headJ Famous ball- room dancer, JO ANN WEBSTER, teaches this same charm ciuss the fundamentals of modern dance. Tea time already! 50 back to the dean's home. Look at all of the famous persons! There's ALICE HERNDON, the author of How to be Happy,H and over In the corner is PAT HEID- KAMP, Hollywood hair stylist. SYLVIA PALMER, we hear, has been modeling huir-dos in Holly- wood. MARY FRANCES OWENS, Superintend- ent of Kentucky Schools, sits chatting with ROSELLA DANIEL, who has made a name for herself as c: lecturer on religion. CHARLOTTE HUNDEMER, representative for u candy factory, reveals that CHRISTINE DICK- ERSON, SADYE KLATCH, and VIRGINIA KAL- TENBACH are now happily married and are living in New York. MARY EV BLANK, professor of mathematics, takes us back to the hotel. This time we vow we'll leave this idyliic existence and return to our hum-drum lives. But DICK STAPLETON, radio announcer tor Sweeney's Other Sweetie, per- suades us otherwise. Ail our good resolutions are thrown to the wind. We'll just have to go to hear BETTY RICHARDSON with her infectious giggle and DOROTHY RECHTIN, who take char- acter parts in the play. LAURETTA DANIEL, re- ceptionist at the radio station, greets us and introduces us to the producer, JACK PRINDLE. VIRGINIA SMALL and GARNET DEAN are in the control room. After the entertaining broadcast we resolve for the last time to start for home. We're taking the BRYANT Bus Line. HERBERT BASS is the manager of this company. KAY DERRICK and DOROTHY BRAUN, feliow-riders, are heading for the HAII Women's Baseball Team Convention in Cincinnati. While riding, we pass an outdoor fete, and the driver kindly slows down so we can see it. FRANCES SERNECZ is creating sets for the choir singers: HAZEL COLE, MARY iOU GILB, MARY HOGAN, ESTHER McGURK, iRMA SCHMIDT, and CORA SELZER. LOU ANN PAYNE plunks the piano keys as we again pick up speed. The hot afternoon sun really makes us drowsy. Soon we're in a semi-sleep, mulling over our old schools days and memories of NEWPORT HIGH SCHOOL Elm ntA of Sept. 5 We're at the truck again! 12 The favorites go to the post: Ed. But with Coach Cavcna drilling, and Coaches Keitel and Lampe working with the line showing them the finer points of a shoulder block, body block, and Indian block, the once green and unorganized group of boys developed into a better-coordinated group. However, they were never quite able to get started, and with the exception of a few sterling performances, the team suffered several stinging defects. Summaries at the close of the season disclosed that the team had a record of nine wins and seventeen defeats. How- ever, on several occasions the WiIdcots showed real ability in upsetting favored teams. Highlights of the season were the wins over Bellevue, 36-34; Highlands, 48-45; Brooksville, 38-28; and Campbell County, 33-25. Until early February the team maintained practically a .500 percentage, but after that time they went into a slump, not winning again until their last game when they won over Simon Kenton, 51-23. In the Seventieth District Tournament, the Wildcats easily disposed of Newport Catholic, 46-24, in the First round, but were in turn trounced by Highiands, 38-28, in the Finals. One may Find much more information in a well written and Interesting letter from a foreign country, than he ever will find in a history or geography book. Since the world was engaged in a state of war, receiving letters from foreign countries became quite difficult. However, there were a few letters which the club received from those countries which were belligerent, such as England, France, and New Guinea. The largest number of letters for the club, were received from our great northern neighbor, Canada. In January, the club gave an assembly for the benefit of the student body to explain the purpose of the club and to tell how it was founded. Letters from diHerent countries were read, and they were greatly enioyed by the students. The members of the club are: R, Ketler, President,- J. Evanshtne, Secretary; B. Root, Treasurer; M. J.
