DEDICATION Do you remember Mother and Dad, when we, as freshmen boarded the ship for the first time? We eagerly ran up the gangplank almost tripping over our new important-looking sailor uniforms, which scarcely seemed to tit because we were so young and inexperienced. l-low we struggled to learn those tirst sailor knots and master our duties on deck! - Earning our service stripes, our young bodies and minds grew to fill out our garb of distinction. Some of us gained promotions of honor and slow- ly rose to duty on the top decks of the vessel. After tour years ot work and play on board, the seniors' trip is over. l-lappily, we tile down the gangplank to present to you, our parents, this log of the S. S. Newport.

! 4 FOR'D As we stroll down the gangplank of the S. S. Newport, memories of our four year voyage pass through our minds. What grand friends our shipmates were! What able helmsmen, our teachers, guided our ship! To them we owe our thanks and gratitude for safely bringing us to port. lt is with deep feeling that we pass our Ship's Log to you, so you too may enjoy the voyage as we did. As you glance through the pages, may the contents reveal not only a happy, contented crew but one which has striven hard to reach the goal they have attained. May we ever keep our standards and ideals high by fol- lowing the straight course, even though we may often be confronted with heavy gales.
