Athletic Association The Athletic Association of Newport High School met in September and elected the following officers; President ................. Marlene Duncan Vice-President ............ .Nettie Kirk Secretary Treasurer ..... Frankie Sibold Reporter Duane Hutchinson Sponsors , Mr. Jordan Mrs. Baird This association sponsored the Halloween Carnival held on October 31, which increased our treasury a great deal. The club is also responsible for the awarding of N ' s to the Seniors who have participated in sports with other schools . The boys ' and girls ' District S Championship banners were also bought by the Athletic Association. 27

The Marorachat This is the eighth year that the school ' s newspaper, The Marorachat, has been published, although this year has been more or less the rebirth of an old, honored, and much desired newspaper. The last publication of the Marorachat before this year was in 1945. The rebirth of the newspaper was due mainly to the fact that the students of Newport High School wanted some- thing for a remembrance of their happy school days. We are proud to have had this honor of reestablishing the Mororachat. The following staff was elected: Editor-In-Chief . . . Assistant Editor. . Business Manager. This year they have worked harder than ever before to set up a better discipline system in our school. 29
