Class Will We, the members of the Senior Class, in order to form a more per- fect union among students, this being our last year in high school, and having certain qualities and posessions which we cannot take with us when we leave here, do hereby bequeath the following items to the persons named. We hope these can be of use to them in their future years in high school. Kelly Hypes wills to Bobby Kessinger his height and to Huey Elmore his curly hair. Mary Ann Williams leaves to Jo Ann Dowdy her ability to play basket- ball. Frankie Sibold wills to Bobby Porterfield her willingness to help in the Glee Club. Leathia Porterfield leaves the enjoyment she has known throughout her high school years to the Freshman Class. Norma Williams leaves to Eleanor Vaught her Business Workbook and to Betty Lou Williams her ambition. Elsie Sarver wills her role of Madonna in the Christmas Pageant to Annalee Scott and her ability to be cashier in the lunchroom to Eva Kirk. David Thornhill leaves his liking for the girls to Gerald Kinzie. Joyce Holdren leaves her loud laugh to Ruby Echols. Minnie Sarver wills her place as angel in the Christmas Pageant to Mary Donald Kessinger. Nettie Kirk wills her office as president of the Beta Club to Duane Hutchinson and to Mattie Sue Porterfield her freckles. Carper Caldwell wills the supply room key to Francis Porterfield. Marlene Duncan leaves her position as typist of the Annual and School Paper to Shirley Rose and Joan Dowdy. Delorous Rader leaves her basketball suit to Peggy Dowdy. Class Prophecy In 1961 the Class of ' 51 met in New York City at Norma William ' s penthouse apartment. She was now a secretary for a large firm in the city. Kelly Hypes was happily married and an all star basketball player for the Bostom Whirlwind Professional Basketball Team. Frankie Sibold had just returned form a missionary journey to India where she was considered one of the best religious leaders. Carper Caldwell was a general in the Army where he had served ten years . Elsie Sarver was an air line hostess for the Trans Atlantic Air Lines. She had been in two plane wrecks and helped save the passengers lives. Mary Ann Williams was an Army Nurse at the main hospital in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. She got along beautifully with both doctors and patients . Minnie Sarver had married one year after she graduated and was a happy housewife in Bluefield. Joyce Holdren was a comedian on television and had fallen in love with Beulah ' s boy friend, Bill. She and Beulah had had several fights over him. David Thornhill owned a store in Roanoke. His store hours were from 5 A. M. to 10 P.. M. Leathia Porterfield had just given a concert in Carnegie Hall. It had turned out to be very successful. Delorous Rader was a successful lumber truck driver. She had ac- quired the name of Tall Timber Tessie. Nettie Kirk was now starring in the great production, South Pacific. She was taking the place of Mary Martin. Doraine Criner had graduated from the University of Virginia and was now working as secretary of the Big Four in Washington. Marlene Duncan had graduated from Radford College and was teaching the third grade at Chicago. We were glad to learn each classmate had achieved his or her ambition. We planned to meet again in ten years because we had enjoyed being together so much. We parted again and said good-bye as we did when we left the doors of Newport High on June 1, 1951. 12
