NEWPORT HIGH SCHOOL car It was full of boys Oh good heavens she thought here s my first est Sandy her cousln lntroduced them all and they made such remarks as Say Sandy you ve been holdlng out on us' and Well I guess the state of Maine must not be such a bad place after all' Helen knew thls was thelr way of belng pollte and reallzed It was only a hne nevertheless she llked It In the fraternlty house next mornlng Helen awoke fullof pep and ready for an excltlng day She dressed ln her snappy black and wh1te Skl sult and ran out to find Sandy After a hasty breakfast he showed her around the campus After lunch they went up to the skl Jump As Helen read the llst of events her eye fell on the last one It read Speclal Skl Jumplng Contest anyone may enter Sandy notlced her lnterest and sald Why don t you try that one Helen? You were always clever at It and boy would I be proud of you lf you should wlnl Bu I haven t any SklS s e answered Aw heck that s a poor excuse I can get you a palr w1th no trouble at all Come on please try It for my sake We 1 l all rlght And then Helen wondered why she had con sented for Sandy bounded off shoutlng Hey anybody gotta palr of skls I can borrow?
