Now I’d like to communicate with you not as a high school principal, but on a more personal basis — one friend to another. “Glory Days,” sung by Bruce Springstein, is a song which has recently been popular. Students are often counseled to be certain to make the most of their high school days. High school days, they say, are the “greatest days of your life.” I certainly hope that’s been true for you. However, I would counsel you at this very important point in your life that your high school days should be “the greatest days of your life, so far”! There is life after high school. Many of you will be continuing your formal education while others enter the world of work, the military service or marriage. Hopefully, as you look to the future you will see challenges, rewards, success, “Glory days.” Good Luck, God Speed. A Friend, 46 J. Impressive upset victories over Upper Dauphin, Juniata, and Halifax highlighted the season. The quality of the squad was exhibited by Mr. Excitement Bryon Wilson. The quick, surehanded receiver was the area’s best and was named 1st team end and defensive back. Quarterback Mike Kline also was one of the top area passers with over 1,000 yards. Other individual achievements were Andy Strickland being named 1st team defensive lineman, and fullback Ed Smith honored with the TVL player of week award for the U.D. game. Tournament where convincing victories over West Perry and Susquenita crowned Newport county champion. The buffs also lost narrowly to district runner-up Kutztown. 108 JV Softball Baseball The '86 Baseball team combined speed, power and timely hitting to register one of the school’s best records. This feat was especially impressive because the Buffaloes were predominantly young. One of the highlights of the season was the victory over Northern division champ Kish. Another was the total thrashing of the upset-minded E. J. Tigers. However, Upper Dauphin and their 3 come-from-behind victories will forever be remembered by the Buffs and their fans. The final defeat ousted Newport from districts. | Seniors: R. Gabel. K. Hancock, B. Wilson. Row 1: S. Gill, M. Gardner, D. Jones, M. Blair, R. Hoke. Row 2: L. Myers, R. LaForce, J. Hockenberry, S.
