Holley The Rowdies Newport's Cheerleaders have once again made great strides ir their efforts to promote good sportsmanship and good schoo spirit while backing the teams of the 1983-84 season. And as captain of the varsity squad I am very proud of our accomplishment' this year. Placing first in Newport's annual cheerleading competition has been a dream come true tor me, as well as, for the rest of the girls. But more than competing, this year's squad worked wel as a whole. We are friends and always will be So this poem i dedicated to the squads that will be leading Newport in the years to come. The 1983-84 Cheerleaders have definitely set an exam pie for many to follow Michele Lowery There are little eyes upon you and they're watching night and day. There are little ears that quickly take in every word you say; There are little hands all eager to do anything you do; And a little girl who's dreaming of the day she'll be like you. You're the little girl’s idol You're the wisest of the wise. In her little mind about you no suspicions ever rise; She believes in you devoutly. Holds that all you say and do. She will say and do in your way, when she's a grown-up like you. There's a wide-eyed little girl who believes you're always right And her ears are always open and she watches day and night; You are setting an example every day in all you do. For the little girl who's waiting to grow up to be like you — Author Unknown The Rowdies Activities to Keep Us Busy, Row 1: T Mullen, M. Clouser, E. Cross, K. Seiler, A. Hilderbrant, T. Houtz, ).
