Members wrote to all Oregon col- leges and universities finding informa- tion on scholarships and entrance re- quirements for students seeking this knowledge. The students took the re- sponsibility of selling tickets at all home games, thereby relieving the faculty of this duty. fgdfdld Under the direction of Mr. Bates, the drama class presented both tall and winter productions. The three one-act plays given in the tall includ- ed The Mystery of Mouldy Manor,' Submerged, and The Black Val- ise. The Mystery ot Mouldy Manor' was a melodrama with psychos, mur- ders, and mysteriously falling vases. Submerged was the story ot six men 1 1 trapped in a disabled submarine. In The Black Valise a struggling psy- chology student outwitted a maniac who was setting bombs off all over the city. Ot the three, Subrnerged was chosen to be presented at the Speech Festival at Taft in November. ln February the three-act play Green Valley took the audience in- to a land of fantasy where long dead ancestors came to lite and sunllowers grew' twenty feet tall. agent' Siam Songs, skits, and varied entertainment brought the ShoWboat to life in the annual Talent Show, sponsored by the Senior Class and held in the Newport High Gym. The fifteen acts were presented in front of a Water-color cutout ofa showboat. Newport headed the list of winners with Grand Prize Winner Margie Fields, who played the piano, Instrumental winner Ierry Dudley, on the trumpet, and Novelty Winner Shirley Looney, for her baton act. Waldport was represented by Carol Raymond, who was the Vocal winner. The Talent Show Committee, headed by Ianet Wolf, consisted of Colleen Currin, Sue LeSueur, Terry Mahon, Don Pier, Darwin Pier. Virginia Gesik, Louie LeMaster, Marilyn Wal- drop, and Sandy Griswalcl. Center Lett: Margie plays Rachmaninoft. Center Right: Above Grand Wmner Mm-gle Fields Master of Ceremonies Bob Spangler.
