During regular monthly meetings, the League Council made plans tor the Girls' League Assembly which met later in the month. Each month the Council picked the Girl-of-the-Month and elected the speaker for the next assembly meeting. In December plans were made for the Christmas Formal. Twirp Week and Honor Day came in the spring. Advising the Girls' League Council and organization was Faculty Advisor, Miss Lambert. Below left: Majorettes This year's band, directed by Mr. Mc- Coy, was very active in school lile. Members helped bolster school spirit by playing at pep assemblies and games. Music lovers received great pleasure from concerts presented. Working in close conjunction with the band were the majorettes. They rnarched in parades and performed dur- ing halves at games. This year the ma- jorettes included Darlene Ward, Colleen Simper, Shirley Looney, Nina Baldwin, Ioyce Nelson, and Iudy Reeves. Special honors went to Shirley Looney, who won national recognition from the baton twirling association of Iarnesville, Wis- consin. Mr. Sandsmark directed the Girls' Glee Club and Chorus in NHS choral Works. These groups gave both a Christ- mas and a spring concert. Newport played host at the Lincoln County Music Festival March 31.
