Keep- ing his campaign promises of a re- vised constitution, more effective in- tra-murals and added representation of Newport in inter-school meetings, Louis encouraged student body coop- eration. b Vice-President Ralph Litchfield or- ganized the most profitable carnival in the history of NHS. Secretary Marlene Williams not only recorded the council events but also represented NHS as Secretary of District-4 Student Council. Treasurer Richard Hart collected, deposited and withdrew money for activities. Yell Queen Lee Versteeg, organization presidents, class presidents, and rep- resentatives completed council mem- bership.

Acker, Karen Transfer from Arkansas Maiorette Pep Club Girls' League eadaza Reviewing four years of high school at NHS, the Seniors of 1956 remembered various and sundry activities. After Freshman initiation in the fall of 1952, President Ralph Litchfield led the class to third place honors for Princess Virginia Marshall at the '52 Carnival, Shanghai Alley. As Sophomores under President Harry Cure, the class won the dubious honors of fourth place for Princess Pauline Bliss and thereby'was elected to clear the gym after the '53 Carnival, King Nep- tune's Court. Colleen Currin, the only girl to be elected presi- dent, helped the Iuniors and Princess Ianet Wolf organize fall carnival plans for Ioumey into Space: Princess Ianet placed third. The annual Sweet- hearts' Ball in February and the Iunior-Senior Prom, Ebb Tide. completed Iunior projects. The Senior year highlights included queen awards for Marlene Williams, who reigned at the Panic Carnival, victory in the KNPT Disk Iockey Contest, the annual Senior Talent Show, and the Senior skip day. Senior class officers were President lim Hill, Vice-President Duane Newton, Secretary Virginia Marshall, Treasurer Ianet Wolf, Sergeant-at-Arms Iim Crowell, and Representative Harry Cure.
