S565 la EIGHTEEN SANTA BARBARA In the heart of California, A mission stands, so fair- And the spirit of truth and love, I think, Lives in the garden there. This garden forms the chapelfyard, Wl1ei'e the stately cedar grows, And the smilax and ivy run along The ground in scrambled rows. 'Years ago along these lanes Padres meditating wentf Their gray robes sweeping solemnly, 'Their heads in thoughts of worship bent. And still, as though through chapelfyarcl Of Santa Barbara one walks, There is a solemn Presence felt, And all is hushed-for there God talks. -Elsie Lee Huffinc

O A drive was made at the beginning of the year to do away with 25 lunch-eating on the auditorium steps and in the 453 parked cars at the edge of the campus. The noon Som ' recreation period, sponsored by the Hi-Y, helped greatly to do away with violations in the hall at noon. 0 Hall committee members are to be com- mended for the faithfulness and loyalty shown gl in staying in their respective positions when on Q-j duty. However, their work was made easier by the fact that the students, themselves, cooperated and worked with the hall committee members. 0 The Student Court included Bob Simon, vice- president of the Student Body: Ruth Hayden, sec- retary of the Student Body, Luther Abrams, pres- ident of the Hi-Y3 Joyce Wentworth, president of the Girls' League: Walter Kelly, senior repre- sentativeg Glenn Thompson, junior representative, Eudell Sain, sophomore representative, Betty Sutherland, freshman representative: and Mr. Hamblet, adviser. ,Stud SEYENTEEN
