Hewett Studios from Tucker. Georgia, took the pictures again this year. Students reported to the auditorium when their homerooms were called, and yearbook staff members assisted the photographers in collecting money and keeping the records. Class pictures arrived about a month later. Sen- iors had their portraits made in June, but any seniors who missed the June sitting had their pictures taken in October. The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) was given at Newnan High School on Saturday. October II. 1980. SAT scores provided college boards with a balanced scale for college acceptance, eliminating the problem of varying academic backgrounds of college applicants. Although the SAT was a standard measure of abilities related to successful academic performance, the student's actual high school record still served as the best evidence of his preparation for college. Miss Cox. French and English teacher at Newnan High School for the past three years, was awarded a French Govern- ment Teaching Assistantship under the Fulbright Program of the Institute of International Education for the 1981-82 school year. One of twenty women selected from applicants from throughout the United States. Miss Cox will teach English conversation and American literature and civilization to stu- dents between the ages of fifteen and eighteen in a French lycee. In addition to teaching. Miss Cox will attend university classes. The Fulbright Program, authorized by Congress since 1946, promotes mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other counties by giving U.S. students the opportunity to live and study in a foreign country for one year. i 1 o § C 2 3 27
