Senior Class History September 9 1953 forty-one young promrsmg puprls entered the Freshman class under the supervisron of Mr Farley who was to be our homeroom teacher We were infonnally introduced to Newmar ket High by the gay Freshman Recept1on wh1ch was sponsored by the Student Council A short whxle after thrs we elected our class officers They were as follows President, Robert Labranche Vice President Robert De Rochmont Secretary Jeannre Ryan Treasurer Elrzabeth Shelton and Student Council Representatives Roger Harvey and Sandra Walk One of the tasks of our Freshman year was to make our St Pat s Dance a success and a success it wasl The dance was held on March 12 1954 We also had an emoyable outing in June which was chaperoned by Mr Farley Our class was now loolung forward to be coming Sophomoreswtth great anxrousness As Sophomores we found ourselves under the supervrsron of Mr Folsom At the first class meeting we elected our class offrcers, Roger Harvey Secretary Betty Fmn Treasurer Robert Szacrk Stu dent Council Representatlves J eanrue Ryan and Andrew Crooker As Sophomore we were proud to have had the first dance of the year ln the new gymnasrum the Sophomore Hop A grand march was held and a k1ng and a queen were selected The Cava11ers Orches U3 provrded entertamment An assembly was given wh1ch added to the many h1ghl1ghts of our Sophomore year We selected our class rings wh1ch we were to re celve as Juniors Upperclassmen at last! Our Jumor year found us under the superv1sion of Mrss Wood Class officers were elected at our first class meettng and they were as fol lows Presrdent Sandra Walker Vrce President Edward Dutka Sec retary Jannle Ryan Treasurer Roger Harvey Student Councrl Rep ICSCHIBIIVCS Judy Hale and Rrchard Wtlson Our class rrngs arrived September 20 a memorable day of our Junlor year We had a Halloween dance October 28 and a Sadre Hawkms dance February 20 Both proved to be successful The Junior class sponsored the yearly Christmas program wh1ch was enJoyed by all Santa Claus was portrayed by Richard Wllson After the Chnstrnas holidays we found ourselves busy with pre paratrons for our Junior Play Three Blind Dates The play was held Aprtl 12 1956 under the duection of Miss Wood At last the long awazted moment of our Junror year the J unlor Prom which was held on May 18 1956 in the hrgh school gymna slum Our theme for the prom was Carousel Under the garly de corated cerlrng we danced to the Cavalxer s Orchestra Our Junror year came to a close wrth Commencement exercrses At this tune we asJuniors acted as class marshals and ushers Class marshals were Sandra Walker and Edward Dutka We recerved an rdea of what was to happen to us 1n the cormng year Senlors at lastl We found ourselves under the supervislon of Mr Enos At our fust class meeting we elected our class officers as fol lows. Presrdent Robert Szacrk Vice Presrdent Roger Harvey Sec retary Betty Fmn Treasurer Sandra Dodds Student Council Rep resentatrves Rrchard Wrlson and Sandra Walker September 26 was an excrtmg and long awaited day as that was the day on whrch our class prctures were taken The makmg of our Panoramic yearbook was put lmder way unme dtately wrth Sandra Walker, edrtor and Judy Hale assrstant editor We held a Record Hop on November 2 and a disc Jockey dance on February 15 Our Semor class play was selected rn October and gxven on No vember 30 under the directron of Mrs Claud1a Cloutrer Wlth the commencement exercrses, the door closed on our school lrfe Separated now, we crossed the threshold wrth our insptring motto in mind Before us hes the umber let us burld er. v v 1 .
